NEW JERSEY PREMIERE—Julia Cho’s Off-Broadway hit The Language Archive is a comedy of the heart that explores the mysterious language of love. The play was commissioned by and produced at the Roundabout in New York after its world premiere at South Coast Rep in California.

Winner of the 2010 Blackburn Prize, The Language Archive weaves together the stories of five people in the throes of love. The play centers on an archivist who collects recordings from the last remaining native speakers of dying languages. While he is a master of languages in his lab, he fails at expressing love for his wife in any language. As we witness a lab assistant at a loss for words and an arguing married couple being studied at the archive, it becomes clear that speaking and truly communicating are often different things. About the inaugural production OC Weekly wrote, “A quirky but ravishingly well-written piece that is smart, funny, deep and tender.”
