In THE GREAT GOD MONEY, Dot is an ordinary person who believes that
more money would solve all of her problems. One day, after a series of
seemingly coincidental disasters, she finds herself on a Wizard of Oz-like
journey through the bizarre and colorful Land of Money. Along the way,
she meets many unusual characters who offer mostly conflicting advice
about how to find the Great God Money.
As Dot’s adventure progresses,
she comes across the Land of Extreme Gender Roles, Comfortville, and
the Hall of History, where she learns the origin of today’s money
system in a nutshell: livestock, shells, coins, paper money.
The original
production’s reviews called the show “crisp, smart, and
amusing,”
and its issues are now more relevant than ever. [Show history]
