973-378-7754 ext. 2228 For Immediate Release CABARET AT THE BAIRD: JAZZ AT THE BAIRD AND DREAMCATCHER COLLABORATE ON A SPECIAL WINTER EVENING DREAMCATCHER REPERTORY THEATRE, professional Theatre in Residence at the Baird Center in South Orange, will collaborate with Jazz at the Baird to present Music From the Silver Screen on Saturday, January 16 at 8:00 pm. This intimate musical evening, perfect for a cold January night, will be held in the main room at the Baird for one night only. The cabaret performance includes music from Broadway shows that have made the transition to film, like CHICAGO, and some that have gone from film to stage, like THE FULL MONTY. Selections range from “You’re Getting to be a Habit with Me” from 42nd STREET, produced in the 1930s, to “The Travel Song” from SHREK, a contemporary musical. Dreamcatcher’s vocalists include Resident Acting Company members Clark Carmichael and Harry Patrick Christian (Montclair), Laura Ekstrand (Livingston), and Scott McGowan (Maplewood). Completing the cast is Tricia Burr (Summit), who has appeared on the Dreamcatcher stage and is the Managing Director of 12 Miles West Theatre. George Cullinan (Summit), a professional musician and vocal coach, will perform on piano. Although Dreamcatcher has been in residence at The Baird for seven years, this is their first joint performance project with Jazz at The Baird. Jazz at The Baird has achieved a high reputation as an intimate concert series of significant or soon-to-be-significant jazz performers. Past performers have included TS Monk, Claudio Roditi, and the Caribbean Jazz Project. While Jazz at The Baird will continue to offer great jazz performances, the program is now drawing on its reputation to expand into other genres of music to provide a greater diversity in scheduling for a broader audience. Meanwhile, Dreamcatcher is expanding its programming to include music in addition to its dramatic and comedic offerings throughout the year. Music From the Silver Screen will run at The Baird on Saturday, January 16th at 8:00 pm at 5 Mead Street in Meadowland Park, a few blocks from the center of downtown South Orange. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door, and may be purchased online at www.TheBaird.org or by phone: 973-378-7754. Tickets also may be purchased at The Baird, 5 Mead St, South Orange, NJ or at Rocketship & Print, So. Orange Ave, South Orange. The facility is wheelchair accessible.
