AUDITIONS FOR ACTORS AGED 8 - 18 FOR DREAMCATCHER JUNIOR: TOUCH THE SKY

DREAMCATCHER REPERTORY THEATRE, professional Theatre in Residence at The Baird in South Orange, is holding auditions for DREAMCATCHER JUNIOR: TOUCH THE SKY on Saturday, May 17 from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. Actors from the ages of 8 through 18 will perform a new revue of stories and songs by songwriter and storyteller John Farrell. Farrell is an international performer and educator whose songs capture the joy and struggles of childhood, from comedic songs like “I’d Like To Be A Duck For A Day” and “I Wish I Hadn’t Done That”, to ballads like “A Good Night Wish”.

DRT JR:  TOUCH THE SKY will be directed by Laura Ekstrand, Artistic Director of Dreamcatcher, with Musical Direction by Tricia Woods of Maplewood and Choreography by Kestin Gussoff of Montclair. Anne Halliday, a recent graduate of Columbia High School majoring in Theatre at University of the Arts in Philadelphia, will stage manage.

Rehearsals will begin on June 29 and run through July 24 weeknights Monday through Thursday, and on weekend afternoons. Dates for this family-oriented show are July 25 through August 3, 2008, with performances on weekends only. The first weekend of the show will be performed in South Orange at The Baird, and the second will be performed at the Unitarian Church in Summit.

No appointments are necessary for auditions, where actors will be asked to tell a story, familiar or original, and sing a song. Please bring sheet music if you have it, but singing a capella is also fine. A brief dance combination will be taught, so dress to move. Experience is preferred but not necessary; anyone who enjoys acting, singing, dancing or all three is welcome. Auditioners should be energetic and playful, be willing to work within an ensemble, and have a creative imagination.
